When changing the fuel filter, after the new filter is in, can I just fill the canister with fuel and replace the cover or when everything is back will it fill itself up? I'm in the middle of this project and need a little help. This is my first time -- I'm getting tired of paying the dealers to do it.

No need to fill the canister back up. After the new filter's in and the cover's back on, just bump the starter (don't start the engine) and leave the key on. The fuel pump will run for about 20 sec and then you should be able to start it. If it doesn't start repeat the bump and wait procedure again.

Mine took three times of bumping the starter to fire up. Scared the heck out of me, I thought I had a 34,000 dollar lawn ornament in my driveway.

I NEVER fill a fuel filter before installing, unless it is the primary filter in a dual setup. That is the last place I want dirt.
