John,

Went out today to start the truck, back to ground zero, several seconds of cranking to start, idle 300-400 rpm and rough,5psi at idle. tripped code p253.

Don,

P0253 can be caused by having less than 12 volts supplied to VP44 while running, or less than 8 volts while cranking. Can you rule that out? If so, it sounds like the VP44 has failed.

I changed my filter(s) the other day and for the first time ever, had no problems with stumbling. I kept the stock filter cannister in place with the airdog and this was the first time I replaced the filters in either since installation. Maybe it was just the air dog filling canister or maybe something else, but before the airdog I would always bump starter several times and would still have a rough idle for 30 seconds or so, or sometomes it would even die, and them it would smooth out and idle correctly. This time it acted as if nothing had ever changed. I went ahead and changed the airdog filter and WS just for the heck of it.

John,

Wanted to get back to you concerning the injection pump, it was the problem, the "rotor" had slipped on the shaft which knocked it out of time and went all down hill from there if that tells you anything.
