I must have come across wrong. I wish there was a Cummins shop close by but the nearest one is almost 45 miles away through congested PIA traffic. It almost makes it worth the higher cost at the Dodge shop around the corner. I put almost 100k miles on my last DC in three years so you'd think 45 miles wouldn't be a problem but I very seldom get out that way. The point I was trying to make was that I'd spend the $43 for a Mopar(Fleetguard) before I'd throw an aftermarket name filter on. Not as apposed to a Fleetguard from Cummins or Geno's...

Tractor dealers are also a source for Fleetguard filters. Typically they will only have the standard filters but hey if your in a bind. You can often match up other parts too. And premix coolant, etc. etc.

Jan-Feb is open house time too. A lot of dealers offer a percent off on case lots of filters if you can handle buying that many.

I also keep 2 spares on board in case i ever get a bad load of fuel while travelling.

I did too, until I had to change one while travelling. Then it hit me: I just used one of my spares; I've got only one left, and I don't know if I got a bad load of fuel, so is one spare enough? Spent several hours of my vacation in PoDunk trying to find a couple of more spares, with the small town local Dealer trying to sell me one for $45. Now I carry about half a dozen if I'm venturing far from home. Overkill? You Bet! :D
