Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Filter

First fuel filter change at 7400. Piece of cake. Would not drain until I 'cracked' the cover a little to break the vacuum, then it drained fine. Filter was a little black, but no crud or sediment in bottom of the bowl. Filled the bowl @ 3/4 with clean diesel, reassembled, bumped twice and it started right up.



Although a little awkward to get to is a simple job. Actually it is easier than my '90 was.

Still waiting for my FP gauge etc from Genos' garage, on back order

Ooops, forgot to mention had problem finding Fleetguard filter. Cummins didn't stock it, and dealer wanted $44. Found a full supply at (Dare I say) Ford trucK repair shop in Fontana, Ca.

$12.

Yes Sam, that's the place. Used to get filters there for my old Dodge too. Funny they can carry them but Linda over at Cummins doesnt.
