Dumb crap has been used for additives for eons. Does it really matter what it was if it wasn’t designed to do what it was being used for?
Used motor oil has been used. ATF. The list is long and dumb.
NONE of it belongs in any modern Diesel engine. Your fuel system is extremely expensive. They throw away your warranty so easily these days but people are still wanting to throw just about anything in the tank? How does this make any sense?

I would never put it in my 2015. The 2001.5 ran quieter with it in it.

ATF is a no no, as the fiction modifiers are not good in an engine.

Yup, we’ve all seen it many times. Good test. I’ve used a couple of the additives listed. Some religiously. Sold one of them for a while. Was privy to some unpublished tests.

Does it talk about longevity? Injector wear? Deposits? Emissions compliance, or emissions device compatibility?

Nope.

This doesn’t pass the common sense test. “Let’s put something not approved in my highly expensive truck because it’s $1 cheaper than a real additive designed for the job.”

Your truck, your money, your choice. And my favorite saying from the golden years of diesel pickups, “I am my own warranty station.”

That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. It’s your truck, it’s your money, use and spend it like you want. I’m just saying that’s not what it was intended for. Why not use a proper additive that IS designed to run as a diesel fuel additive?

That just boggles me. People want to cheap out on maintenance stuff on really expensive equipment.

Like I said though, your truck, your money. I wouldn’t recommend it.

This is the FIRST time I have hear it's a negative! In the DAY it was JUST FINE.

Nothing "Cheap" about using it.

I used it for 14 years and 110K plus miles in our 24V without the engine falling out the bottom of the engine compartment.

Personally I don't consider the 12V or 24V "Modern"

OH, the P7100 on my 98 12V has WELL over 400k and never has been touched other than a "little tuning" by Piers and later Bill Fletcher.
