Yes, although if you choose this option, you also have to take an extra set or two of cylinders. It's kind of like not being able to get the heated seats without getting the leather option. ;)

Anyone know how to replace sending unit???

Mine just got stuck on full, after coming back from hunting trip over some really rough roads... ... ..... was wondering if something is stuck, but after a few hundred miles of driving and filling it twice it hasn't changed. Still stuck on full. If anyone has changed a sending unit on I would be interested in hearing how to do it... .....

Thanks,

Rogue

The only time you have too much fuel is if you are on fire, that's why I added a Transfer-Flow fuel tank and never let my truck get below 17 gallons of fuel, you just never know.

I just figure I'll add my question to this same situation. My truck is a 02 Ram, the window sticker cliams 34gal (or 35 I don't really remember) My truck will claim to be at E and the Overhead console will say 33 miles to empty. But when I fill up, I can't get the ol girl to swallow over 26gal... I've got a couple other things I'm waiting to bring it into the dealer for. Seems there is a new recall issued on the 02's. Something on the rear brakes...

I can't play this game with you guys. It always happens that when I'm low on fuel my wife is always with me. She gives me the look from hell when she hears the bell chime... shortly after she enters panic mode... in a year, she still has yet to believe me when I tell her approximately how much fuel is left in the tank when the truck gauge shows 1/8.

I like the stock gauge and don't care about accuracy as long as its off on the safe side. For those of you that want an accurate set up check out the link above. My company uses hundreds of these senders a year with great success, no moving parts, durable, accurate, and easily calibrated. Good Luck Even lets you know when there is water in the tank or use a water screen to disable this feature. I just use em I don't sell em sorry.

:) My experience has been that if I fill the tank when the low level light goes on, it will only take 26 gallons, 26. 3 tops. Been that way since I bought the truck. Farthest I've driven on a tank has been 715 miles from Portland Oregon to Salmon Idaho, via Spokane and Missoula. Still had 3. 5 gallons left in the tank when I filled up. The needle showed deep in the red for the last 95 miles. :D

Ahhh, wives. Been there, done that too many times. They seem incapable of logical thought. I not only tell her how many gallons were left, but how many more miles we could have gone.

She'll say something like "Yeah, right. "

I usually bring up the fact that I've never run out of fuel while driving. I know when she was younger, she ran out on at least 2 occasions... She doesn't seem to like me pointing out that fact that historically I am indeed much better at estimating how far I can go on a tank of fuel. ;)

I think dodge just wants to make sure the engine gets a good soild stream of fuel with the tank in various positions due to slope and also accelerating and slowing down.

My old Phord with dual tanks would loose power gradually as one tank got dry. Air was becomming entrained in the fuel. I tried running it dry a few times on the flat interstate since I could switch tanks while moving. The power just got less and less. Never got to where it would just quit suddenly.

I don't believe that is a good practice to run it that low. I notice the gage and light move a lot when going up and down hills near empty.

On mine, the gage barely hits the full mark when topped up and drops fast to about 2/3 tank, then drops slower.
