I have a 01' and my son-in-law has 00'; both of these trucks after replacing lift pumps and of injector pumps have gauge problems. If I let the truck go to 1/4 of a tank it is dead empty. Is this the gauge, the computer, or the sending unit? Not a real problem for me, I keep my tank full; but I'm tired of taking my son-in-law five gallons of fuel. He must have gotten some bad genes. Its either fix the trucks or get a new inlaw. God help the grandkids.

there are plenty of threads here about this. i did some searching and found fixes from free to 50 bucks if you do it yourself. more if you head to the stealership. my fuel gauge is still screwy, it goes down to 3/4 and plummets. i will be pulling off the bed soon and modifying the dang thing. your son-in-law should do it the next time he runs out of fuel and drop the tank :D

Mine went haywire at about 50k miles and cost me a couple roadside lessons in re-priming the VP-44. (Ok, slow learner)

Learned to fill the tank by the odometer and disregard the gauge. Now, however, based on mileage and gallons pumped - the gauge seems to have returned to normal operation - probably as accurate as it was new - and I did nothing to fix it. It's been normal now for another 30k miles, but do I rely on it? NO!

Something real screwy happened to mine too. It seems to go from full to empty much quicker then when I first got it? I think it's directly related to my right foot, injectors and comp box ? ? ? :-laf
