Scott,

Thanks for the info.

I figured I was ready to do the install, and then the fuel issue came up.

I too agree the line I got is over kill. It is rated at 80 psi, clearly more than I need pressure wise, but the standard line at the parts shop was rated at only 12 psi. So better to have overkill than flirt with disaster.

Suggestions for getting the torque wrench on the banjo bolt on the bottom of the filter housing?? Looks like a problem, and even though I have a pretty well calibrated wrist, if the banjos are that sensitive to over torque, don't want to twist one off. Or worse stress it and not know about it until I'm in the middle of no where.

John, if you are determined to use the TQ wrench, I think you are going to have to remove the filter housing from the block bracket, I can't see how there will be enough room, though I didn't try. When I placed the Weber fitting at the bottom of the filter, I just torqued it down until it felt right. I'd snug that banjo down to what you believe is enough, it's easy to keep an eye (hand) on it by either peering through the driverside fenderwell from time to time or by just reaching down over the top and feeling for fuel leaks.

I got the opportunity to work on the install today, and it is complete. I ended up hooking up at the bottom of the filter housing, and so far no leaks.

Thanks to JWEIR and BIG SAINT for your input.

I have 13 psi at idle, haven't done a road test yet. What is a reasonable low at WOT unloaded??

Also put in the Dakota Digital gauge, it is way cool guys, check em out.

So thanks again.

John

John, glad to hear that you got the gauge in and have decent FP readings. I have my Mallory set at 14 psi's post filter @ idle and I see a drop to about 8 on WOT runs under sustained throttle. Mine does dip down to about 6 psi's at the start of a hard full throttle run with the TST box on as well, but it recovers and stays between 8-9 psi's under full throttle. My take is that any positive psi's are okay, though I get real uncomfortable if they dip much below what I have.

I believe that another member sourced Cummins who stated that we should see no less than 8 psi's under a load, to help lubricate the VP44. There are alot of restrictions in the stock transfer pump set up, anything that you can do, such as Weber fittings or bored out banjos will help to keep the fuel flowing.

Glad you got it going, John. I have about 13 at idle and can see 7 at WOT. After installing the Edge Comp, I can see 5 once in a while at WOT, have to watch that pump :(
