Up till a month or two ago my fuel gauge worked fine. Now it reads half a tank when its about empty. Sometimes its more accurate than other times, just kinda has a mind of its own. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what is the fix? Is it wiring, the sending unit or what? Do I have to drop the tank to fix? Any advice would be great, Thanks

I searched some previous threads and found a few complaining about our floats falling apart, is this the culprit? If so, how hard is it to get to and fix?

you can get a new fuel level sending unit from chrysler, it has a new float on it and is quite reasonable at around 55. 00. you must remove the tank or the bed to change it.

Welcome to the fuel gauge problem. parts bought from the lowest bidder always fail early. my first one failed one month after taking dilivery ,had two bad since. all were changed by dropping the tank. hope this helps.
