FUEL GAUGE SHORT?

Just driving down a smooth road -- low fuel light, chime came on and gauge said empty.

I had 3/4 of a tank

It was ok after I shut of the truck at the next stop and restarted.

Has this happend to anybody else.

I had a problem with my fuel gauge reading low when I had lots of fuel. Had it replaced about a year ago and now it's starting again. There's probably lots in the archives on this subject as I have seen postings on this subject.

This is a common problem. The sending units are poor and have to be replaced. I saw a 2500 with a dump body. I thought this was the perfect way to gain access to replace the sending unit. I might just buy that truck.

Mfburns -- Down here south of the border some of the cars have a plastic fuel can strapped to the roof -- you can always see the level and it eliminates the need for a working fuel pump - do you think this would solve the lift pump problems??? #ad
