I have a 94, long bed short cab with 95000 on it. The fuel gauge has always been off and I think at one point there may have be a tsb on it. The fuel light comes on with 6 gallons left in the tank no big deal I know when I comes on I can still drive to work for a week. Well yesterday the fuel light came on and I only had 300 miles on the tank usually get 500 before the light. Went to fuel and it only took 17 gallons???? Any thoughts on this?? New sender>>> whats involved in fixing this. Thanks:confused:

Ya a new sender .
You can confirm with it out of tank & connect meter , slowly move float , watch meter , should not jump / hick up , just move slowly with moving float .

You can also raise the bed to access the top of the tank and the sending unit. Its still a PITA to do. If you do a search there are several threads addressing this also instructions on how to do the fix. I have done one for a friend using the (jack up the bed method) Took about 2 hrs to do it. Now mine is broke but I have just been reseting the trip meter every fill up and re-fueling at 300 miles when towing and 400 miles when empty.

Good luck.
