Hi guys, I got a 2012 Ram 3500 dually with 138,000 miles on her,my fuel gauge is fluctuating between almost empty to full, today it was showing quarter of a tank, went I filled it up and only took 7 gallons,I have a Transfer Flow Aux tank with a Trax 2 montor, and the main tank gauge didn't seem right, so I pulled the fuse on the extra tank, so it's only running on the main tank right now.Any ideas where to start looking, thx,Terry

How do you know that 7 gals was all it took? Did you fill from station or aux tank? If from station, then I would suspect that your tank float level gauge has bit the dust. I believe that it only comes as an assembly and of course having to drop tank or lift bed to replace! Maybe someone else has better knowledge, but this is what I've seen in other vehicles and have help neighbor replace his on a gas RAM 1500 with 167K.

That was 7 gals from the station,Going to have it looked at next Wed.

I have always been an Odometer fan, setting the trip 1 odo to zero every fill up and when I get to 250 miles I will fill and usually takes somewhere about 20 gal and usually the fuel gauge is usually about 1/4 to 1/3 tank. Think my tank is 33 or 34 gal. I also use trip2 odo for DEF and yesterday when DEF gauge was at just under 1/2, it took 3.9 gal at the DEF pump and that was 1323 miles and most of those miles were towing my 12K toy hauler (snowmobiles) to the mountain and back (100 miles round trip).
