Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) fuel hose

hey guys, while doing oil change yesterday, I notice 1/2 hose from filter to vp-44 has some cracks on the outer hose. i have the vulcan fitting, pump near tank. the hose i got from a freind that does diesel work, only 10,500 miles on this hose. name on hose is( lockmaster). has anyone had this problem, or it may be the heat causing it to happen,what's a good hose to go with if you had no problem. I hate to have to change every 10,000 miles. any suggetion

I think this has a lot to do with the quality of the hose. Maybe a cheap hose is 3-5 years, but a quality hose should be significantly longer...

use marine coast guard approved house it will last decades but costs 4x the cheap stuff

the hose that comes with the Vulcan kit is good stuff - it's Parker SAE and marine rated stuff that should last a long time. You can buy just the hose from them for a very fair price - like $12. 50 per 5'
