Fuel in San Jose,CA

Anybody in or around the area know where I can get inexpensive fuel. The place I used to go just jumped . 17 cents per gallon. Kinda expensive when filling two tanks. Thanks for the input.

Sorry to say everything around here is going up FAST. I fill up at the RR on Lafette. I filled up in Gilroy this morning and it jumped to 1:36 from 1:31 on Monday.

Fuel Prices

Any clue as to what is causing the jump. All the military activity using up the supposed "stockpile"? I'm in full support of our troops both here and abroad, but a 10% jump? That's the whole reason I dumped my gasser!

It has gone up almost $. 20 per gal here, in the last few weeks. Here is the reason:



1. Windstorms in North Central and East Coast...

2. A refinery burned, shut down for maintenance, or ?...

3. Winter is holding on to the cold weather so they needed more heating oil...

4. Pipeline problems somewhere...

5. Recent military activity has depleted supply...

6. Anticipation of increased military activity has depleted future reserves...

7. We're coming out of the economic resession and there for prices have increased due to inflation...

8. Reduced refinery production in anticipation of warmer weather...

9. With increased mileage of newer vehicles, refineries have to cut back to create a shortage...

10. The refineries need more money...

Actualy, in CA the excuse is that since we will soon shift to ethanol from MTBE the producers have to re-tool and it will cost a lot to ship it in from the mid-west. More bilge water.

I hear you!

I filled up last night @ Flying J in Tacoma, WA and paid $1. 23/gal! Two weeks earlier at the same location, I paid $1. 06/gal. This is the first time in a LONG time that I have seen the diesel price more than the reg unleaded price... . Why the change? Has the demand for diesel suddenly skyrocketed?

Well, purely my oen opinion: For those of us lucky enough to be behind the iron curtain here in Kalifornia, it was either Proposition 40 or 42 on last week's ballot that wanted to take some of the current fuel state taxes and divert them from the state's General Fund to highway and other such maintenence issues. The proponents of that Proposition claimed it would not raise existing fuel taxes.



Come on folks... ... for a state government used to having that money to spend on whatever they want, since that Prop. passed, and now those funds are no longer going to be directed into the General Fund, does anyone really believe the state isn't going to raise the taxes to make up for it?? Reality check time... .



Besides, it's almost Summer... and the oil companies always get extra greedy this time of year.



Just my opinions. Taxation is waste!!!

fuel prices

With the dawning of spring, heating oil prices tend to back-off

after these customers have been ripped-off as much as possible and the oil companys turn to the gas and diesel customers, since with spring and summer more people are traveling on vacations, rvers and more commerciial traffic due to better weather so all this means is greater profits for the oil companys. When I think of this several thoughts come to mind and one of them is Enron and terrible fraud they perptrated not only on its customers but its investors and employees. (non-inner circle).

There are some real fools in this state to believe that that money isn't going to have to come from somewhere. I mean every special interest group ever concieved is homeported somewhere in this state. God forbid we should take any of their money away. Honestly what would the Organization for Equal rights for dogs who need to **** on endangered trees do without their govenment grant of $2,000,000.

Diesel Co-Op?

How do the big companies do it? I see these refueling stations, like the afore mentioned Lafayette AM PM, do the commercial truckers get a lower price based upon company volume? And couldn't a group of hard working diesel truck owners form an LLP to get this discount? I'm just thinkin' out loud.

Dlord, you can get an account at the pumps you mentioned if you have a business. I have one there for my shop but have found that the price at the other pumps is the same or less. At the big rig pumps you have no idea how much you are paying unless you wait for the bill to come or call in every day to check prices. Unless you run a huge amount of fuel a month don't worry about it.

small independent on willow rd in menlo park of all places. pretty consistently $1. 29 their sign says they shop around for the lowest prices since they are an indie shop. if you go by there check them out.



i now live in san carlos and there is one place in town on the el camino for $1. 75 and one place in redwood city for $1. 55. needless to say the 5mile drive to menlo park is no big deal for that much in savings.
