Fuel in the AFC...How bad?

Discovered another leak the other day... Notice fuel dripping from the little vent to te AFC. After some brilliant deductions I decidided to pop the top on the AFC and sure enough, it's full of fuel. I'm fairly certain it shouldn't be there and I'm suspecting there is a "seal" or O-ring around the little fuel pin at the bottom of the AFC that has gone away. What do you think?



So my question is... How bad is this? I'm trying to avoid pulling the pump until after the holidays, but if this could cause other damage, I will jump on it sooner.

Since the holidays are basically here, I'd run with it. It does need attention on Jan 2, though.



To get to the o-ring, you will need to remove the AFC housing from the pump, and remove the lever that is in the way of the guide pin sliding out of the way. There are 2 steel balls on either side of the housing, holding a steel pivot rod in place. Drive them out one side with a punch, and you can get to the opening to the guide pin from the front. It takes an allen wrench to unscrew it, then the o-ring is right under the retaining screw. Use a pick to get it out and put back in.

Bosch Seal Kit DGK121, just bought one a couple days ago for $18. 80, I had an aftermarket kit too but the Bosch is better with more content and only a couple bucks more.



You could just as well order the Breakover spring then too. Like the butt connector repair though

mine leaked after i spun the fuel pin (yes i did grease it) after i found out cause of the leak told my self ill fixit later i packed it with hi temp lithium grease problem solved hasnt leaked since 3000 plus miles try it, it wont hurt

Hello Andrew, Had the same thing with my truck. Posted a month ago (VE pump leak ). I will do the reseal like is instructed here. (thanks loads guys for the procedure and PN on the kit!).

For now though, I added LUCAS Upper Cylinder Lube fuel additive and the leak had just about stopped. I had a regular drip, but the additive has cut it back to just a drip every 5 to ten minutes.

Daniel. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I will need to remove the pump from the engine to do this? The AFC Housing is cast in with the pump top, right?

I ordered the seal kit, breakover spring, bell crank bushings from them and the price was comparable to what others here have posted. I did get the "business" from him when I wanted the 3200 gov' spring. I later got the part number and called in the order with little trouble. You can't just ask for the spring or they get their panties in a bunge... Have the P/N handy and save yourself the frustration.
