Ran my truck a couple of thousand miles for a hunting trip a few weeks ago. I was pulling a 6k trailer and had the SMARTY on level one with all default settings. In the middle of Nevada my truck threw a code and then went in to limp mode. I checked the codes and tried to reset w/ SMARTY, but truck kept going in to limp mode (45mph max) and showed up the following codes: P2128, P0088, P2121, P0653, P0193. Called Carson Dodge and as it was Friday afternoon they were closing for the weekend. Frustrated and bent out of shape I drove west for over two hours to Reno to Lithia Chrysler where they checked my truck and discovered that the fuel rail poppet (pressure relief) valve was blown out and no longer holding fuel. They took real good care of me and had me back on the road at noon on Saturday. Needless to say I was surprsed that this happened. I don't tow past 70mph and I don't hot rod up the grades (55mph) so I am still wondering why this happened. The mechanic said the fuel pressure relief valve may have been damaged by intermittent use of the Edge /Juice or the SMARTY set on the higher settings and this outing was the final straw despite the fact that I was not racing down the highway. Anyway, just a heads up to those of you who are exceeding the OEM fuel rail pressure settings on these trucks.
