While on the road pulling my RV, the front fuel injector line broke in half. I had some 1/4 inch rubber fuel line, but it burst each time I started the engine. There is upwards of 4500 PSI on these injector lines. Needless to say, fuel was squirting all over the place. Since this problem "never happens" according to Dodge, most dealers don't stock the parts. One can carry a piece of high pressure hydrolic hose (1/4 inch inside dia) for emergencies. I had to be towed, The Dodge *******s wouldn't cover the costs under warrenty even though I only have 63 thousand miles, and by the way bought an extended warrenty when I bought the truck good (supposedly) up to 75 thousand miles, and got to pay 1400 dollars to be shafted. Point is: the lines can break, DO carry some hydrolic rubber line and clamps especially if you travel very much. Lastly, the 100,000 mile warrenty on the diesel engines apparently don't cover anything outside the motor. They say the high pressure line is part of the fuel system, not the engine.

Dude, what a major $uck job! Try contacting the regional service manager, probably won't get you anywhere, but I would be bull$^it about this. I would also stand outside the dealer with a poster stating they don't cover items under warranty ... ... ..... or something to that effect. Think of how quick they will respond to you then.

The fuel lines should be covered. The injection pump, fuel life pump, etc. is part of the fuel system too and they are covered. The injection lines are a Cummins part. Not Dodge.

Make 'em pay for it. The 24 valves do have slightly higher lines pressure over the 12 valves at around 3900psi. That poor little rubber hose:D

Bill, your dealer is right up to the point of the lift pump when he says the fuel system is covered. Everything after the lift pump IS covered to 100K miles regardless of extended warranties. Give 'em he!!.

The fuel injection pressure on the ISB is 17,000 psi. If a fuel injector line brakes, there is not much you can do as a field repair.

I am curious about where it broke. Was it at the connector tube or at the VP44 end?
