I got the injector pump code off the diagnostic code scanner. My truck just seems to stop getting power sometimes. You can put the pedal top the floor and the truck will go any faster. Seems to kick in at all speeds and all gears. The truck stays running and if you turn the key on and off real quick while it's doing it, it seems to reset something and fixes the problem, but only for so long. There's no certain time that it does this. Although it does seem to do it more when the truck is colder. I looked the code up the scanner gave me (can't remember the code # off the top of my head) but the code was for the Fuel Injector Pump. I'm sure someone else has had this problem before because I heard it is a common problem. Is there anyone that can offer some advise as to if it could possibly be something else that would be throwing that code? The injector pump is very expensive, and was wondering about maybe there are bad sensors or anything else that would be worth giving a shot before I go ahead replace the injector pump. Please help me, this problem is very annoying and hope there is a cheaper fix to this problem... . PLEASE HELP!!!!!

It is infact that 0216 code, the VP-44 Injector pump. Don;t tell me to get my wallet out just yet. I heard of other people fixing the problem cause they just had bad sensors, but I couldn't out exactly what sensors they were.

Please let me know any stories or experiance that you may have with this problem... . I would greatly appreciate it.

A 216 code is an ireversable code that only goes away when you change the injector pump out. There are no sensors that you can replace to make it go away. You say the injector pump is very expensive... . maybe our idea of expensive is different but I can buy a rebuilt better than factory pump locally here for around 1100. 00 and you can change it out in 3 hours with minimal tools.

fault p0216 is an injection pump code, no sensors will cause this code, but in my 15 years of working on cummins for a dealership, I can tell you that if your transfer pump is bad, or if you have any fuel system leaks, or restrictions, this can cause this code, check this first, unhook the batteries and reset the the system.

Helped a guy today with a bad L/P and had a P 0216 new L/P and fired right up.

How exaclty would I go about checking the transfer pump if it bad or good.

When you bumb the starter WITHOUT starting you SHOULD hear the L/P cycle for 25 seconds if not it's toast. Also as said above when was last fuel filter change? mine NEVER went more than 8K Where are you at city, state?

It can be some what working if you hear it too. Just not good enough to make good PSI. But if no noise at all it's T/U

Sorry too far away to help. I have a testerfor here but you might try the locals in your area.
