Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel injector pump

This is regarding a '00 ext. cab dually with 158K miles. While driving down the road the truck just died. It will still crank, but idles real rough like it's not getting enough diesel. I don't have more details than this, but think it's the fuel injector pump that went out. I would appreciate ya'll's input.

1) See if you can get the codes out of it - do the 3-key twist method so the codes show up in the odometer display... . The newer trucks will usually spit out a code or ten if the injection pump took a nosedive...



2) Test fuel pressure if you can... it can't hurt to see where it's at...

The only code that came up was P1693. The fuel pressure line was cut but usually runs around 10 psi. Also, no check engine light came on when it happened.
