The odometer on my 98.5 2500 Quad Cab with the 24V engine is indicating about 190,000. There have been a few letters and topics about changing the fuel injectors at about 200,000. So far have not noticed any change in starting or running that would lead me to think that there is a problem with any one of the injectors, which are still the original. Did change the water pump and belt tensioner and belt recently as there was a recent article that these were considered "wear" items and recommended to be replaced at about 200,000 miles. Have some body and frame work that needs more immediate attention and depending on how much "growth" comes up may not have the truck for long. The fuel lift pump was swapped out some time ago with the "kit" from Dodge where it was removed from the engine and placed in the fuel tank. Still running the original VP44 fuel injector pump though. Recently the brake line over the fuel tank rusted through and burst which was discovered by the very soft and to the floor board brake pedal. Luckily this happened prior to taking it on a long trip! Have been pretty regularly doing brake fluid flush though. So, based on the current mileage, age, and no obvious symptoms of fuel injector problems, should the injectors be replaced?

The same brake line recently (July) failed on my truck with the same symptoms. Odometer is indicating almost 265,000 miles on original injectors with no issues. MPG is good and still plenty of power and throttle response when towing up to 9K lbs.
Original water pump and radiator.
I am considering a set of Bosch RV275 injectors when the odometer turns 300K.
Original VP44 failed @ 250K miles.
Have been flushing and bleeding brake system regularly and all original except for brake line mentioned above and front pad replacement @ 152K miles.
To answer your question; I wouldn't replace the injectors if the engine is running well with no issues.

Injectors on the 2nd gen trucks can last forever... I wouldnt bother messing with them. But you may want to check the valves for adjustment and investing in a fuel pressure gauge is always a good idea.

I had Piers build me a matched set of 215's for my 98 auto at 100k. My son has the truck at 400k and the injectors are working perfectly fine!
