Paid $3. 93 in Tulare Co, Cal this morning.

Have no doubt that it'll be over $5. 00 a gallon by Memorial Day.

Could well be. It all depends on what happens in the Middle East. If demonstrations break out in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, watch out!

Get ready because $5 is just a few months away. It's true, because my wife said so. I bought a Honda 250 BR scooter w/<200 miles December 15 to resale and it looks like I'm going to have to keep it & drive it 29 miles one way to work. Now I've got to buy safety gear. Then I'll probably buy a larger scooter.
Scooters are cool.
GAS
EDIT: $3. 10 Gallon Auburn Alabama
2nd Edit 2 hours later: $3. 20
Diesel
$3. 50

I had my truck and fifthwheel detailed Monday and parked both in the barn. I probably won't pull my trailer again until nobama is no more than a bad memory.

I've been riding my m/c everyday instead.

Wow... .

3. 96 (carb) as of today in the liberal nerve center.....

I hope it hits 5 bones soon. Maybe then we will possibly adopt some sort of energy policy.

I hope you're refering to "Drill, Baby Drill".

I do believe that we're gonna achieve some NEW magical type of fuel, . . . someday.

We ain't gonna see it tomorrow, or next year or ten years from now.

Pilot station in Syracuse, drum roll please... ... ... $3. 999.

It is official $4. 00/gal fuel... . in Feb. I got away not having to pay $5. 00/gal back in '08 ($4. 68 was the highest). Looks like I won't be so lucky this time.

What?

No Big Oil Bashing yet.

My what a civilized lot;)

The only bash I can think of is the usual one. The fuel we burn now was derived from stock the oil companies had 90 days ago,so why the big price increase? I could see things going up 90 days from now based on current events but? The states are generating more tax revenues if they charge sales tax on fuel/gas though. The oil companies work in concert with the Wall Street speculators. Kiplinger's mag recommends investing in oil and tobacco stock as they are "resilient during recessions". Yep,they definitely have a captive clientele!

I'm completely stumped as to why diesel is so high to begin with.

For my entire life, diesel prices have been lower or level with low grade gasoline. And now the price is comparable to high octane, if not higher.

I've heard every argument under the sun but none make any sense to me whatsoever.

What oil companies do is what every retailer in every industry does.

Oil companies do have reserves of finished products, diesel fuel and gasoline, in storage tanks to keep a continuous supply available and flowing.

But they know that they will pay a far higher but yet unknown price for crude oil to replenish current stocks. So it is just normal business practice in any industry to increase the price of current inventory in order to provide the capitol to purchase replacement raw material supplies.
