Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Leak From Filter Canister???

Been smelling fuel over 2 days and Now I see fuel dripping off Differential--investigated and it is running down the housing and dripping off the bottom Banjo Bolt. It is not the bolt as you can see it running down the side while the truck is running. Appears there are a couple of sensors over there on the front side of housing.



Has anyone expereinced this before? And if so is there a good fix w/o dealer?



This is EXTREMELEY annoying! I treat this truck like a "China Doll" and crap like this happens!

Take it to the dealer it should be covered under the engine warranty 5 year 100K mile.

fuel leak

Cummins was dyno'ed mine the other week and it leaked from ???? dried thinks off and ran it for a while at home at 2000 rpm and couldn't find a leak will look there again when it does again thanks for the info.

Dealer checked out truck today, and the filter housing is cracked up the side over by the water sensor. They thought that it must have had water in it and froze.



I don't think so, as the water light as never stayed on and it would take a WHOLE lot of water to freeze and crack the housing.



Housing should be in on Thursday--so much for that tank of fuel--its all over the bottom of truck

Don't know were you get fuel from but stay with volume dealers. I have always got mine at a particular card lock company and so far has worked well?????never had water/fuel light cone on!! Anyone else been having computor glitches the last couple of days?????????????????

Always get my fuel at the same place here in town--very fresh and keep a good moniort on tanks. Never has the Water/Fuel light ever stayed on. I don't think it was water, the sensor was bad, but I would think that that the truck wouldn't start or at the very least run poorly?

Fuel Heater main plug was "Burned" to a crisp!!



One wire was burned up. Main heater unit is suspect, but on National Back Order--1100 units. This is nice thing to worry about when the warranty dies.

actually its pretty easy to crack the top of the fuel filter canister if you get the lid on crooked. DC actually issued a TSB on this issue because people were forcing the lids on when they weren't straight.

i think they also had a tsb on the top of the filter used to have a 1/2'' drive whole and people were taking the tops off that way and it would crack the top. i speak from experince. got the new top and they just have a round whole in them. guess that solved that.
