Attention: TDR Forum Junkies having two days off so I installed the fuel line with out trouble after work monday night but could not prime the system so Ill tackel it in the morning I thought tues morning I found a verry troubling problem dodge engineared the fuel sending unit and tank from plastic EXCEPT the tube for fuel supply and return thease are made of steel. I purchased my truck in 03 it turned 250k on my return trip to WV from Ft Bragg after OEF III it lived in WV all its life and salt doing what it does best rusted holes in both tubes and I was lucky it ran as long as it did. the new unit from dodge was $300 and with no way to drop the tank or prop the bed up yes unfotunately I installed a acess port in the bed however after all the cutting the truck was fixed and back on the road! 10 years + salt = $$$ o well
the good that came from this is
1 my fuel line trouble is over
2 any future aux tank hook up will be simple
3 my fuel gauge is worth looking at and I can use my trip for a trip not a
fuel-o-meter
I plan to reinforce the bed and install an acess door above the tank ( why dident dodge do it?) thank you for your help
