2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fuel line and fittings at tank

I dropped my fuel tank to replace the fuel tank module and the return line was was froze onto the fitting at the tank. I finally ended up cutting the plastic line to get the tank out. I thought I could just get a new plastic line and fitting at the dealer but they say you have to buy the complete steel and plastic line to the front of the truck!!! Can you buy those special fittings anywhere and the plastic line? It looks like the air lines on my Peterbilt. Is there a way to press these plastic lines on the steel?

You can simply use marine grade diesel rubber hose all the way with standard stainless steel hose clips from here:

Changing the entire fuel return line from the injection pump at the same time (5/16") will save future grief. I re-routed this line outside the injection pump to eliminate the awful return hose behind the injection pump by using a barbed banjo fitting above the pressure valve on the back of the injection pump.

I just checked the details of the banjo. I ordered a barbed banjo, 14mm, with a 5/16th barb from US Diesel Parts: High Performance Diesel Parts for Duramax, Cummins and Power Stroke. They are at 406 728 7620. The part # is D42400, and the cost is $4. 24. I also asked for two of the washers that fit either end of the banjo fitting.

The link I sent above states that the hose is safe for alcohol blends, which would include ethyl alcohol, or ethanol, one of the biofuels. To satisfy yourself, you can contact LarryB at Fostertrucks to ask the question. He is/was a member of this forum, and very helpful, in my experience. He also sells the stainless clips for the hose.
