Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Tuning a motor

I want to replace my fuel line from the tank up to the lift pump-the line looks kinda crappy and I'm having an issue with air getting into the system (I think). I've got the stuff from Larry B to replace the lines from the preheater to the hardline, but was wondering what was outthere. I've been looking for information on the "Vulcan Big Line" and can't find any-I'm also considering a "pusher pump" at the tank as an option to replacing the fuel lines.

I'm thinking I'm getting air into the system because I have to prime the truck every morning if I want it to start-I replaced the lift pump and it ran AWESOME for a day then went back to it's old habits

I've done several of these and the problem went away when I replaced the lines. This weekend I ran across the first one that it wasn't the lines. I replaced the lines, and it helped, but it was still getting a little air. Turns out it was the fuel heater. I bypassed the heater and the problem is gone. Bypassing the heater is not a big issue down here, but in colder climates it may be.

I wouldn't worry about a pusher pump on that motor... . The factory piece recirculates about 2/3 of the volume it pumps back to the fuel tank... . a pusher would starve the stocker.

My return line chaffed at the point where it and the supply line run past the frame up to the sending unit. the return line was sucking air and pumping it into the pickup, the pickup was pumping bubbles into my engine... . It was fun for about 3 months until I gave up replacing lines and seals on the motor. We pulled the bed off and saw that the tank was wet. Dirt was absorbing the fuel before it got low enough to be seen on the frame rail.
