On the suction side of the fuel line is there a filter, one way valve, in tank pump or any other obstruction between the tank and the lift pump on either the 1st or 2nd generation trucks?
On 12 valves it's a seperate unit below and a little forward from the main fuel filter. Service it from the bottom of the truck. It's like a canister, the bottom bowl comes off by turning a nut on the bottom. Pay attention to the sealing ring. After servicing open the bleed screw on top of the fuel filter and pump the manual primer on the transfer pump till there is no air.
