I just turned over 4400 miles on my new 2002 2500 truck and am still getting only about 12 mpg. When can I expect it to improve. Worse than a gas banger. My old CTD Dodge was getting 18 and 12-15 towing my 32' fiver.

Me Too!

My 99 3500 4x4 just turned 30K miles, and I'm having the same problem. No matter what I do I get about 10-12! I've only had the truck about 1 month, and was getting about 15 when I first got the truck. I did remove the silencer ring on the turbo, and thought maybe I didn;t get the intake hose on tight enough, so I removed and re-tightened it last night. I also noticed the fuel filter looks to be original! I am going to change it tomorrow. The air filter didn't look too bad, but a little dirty in one corner, so I'm going to replace it too. Could a partially plugged fuel filter cause this poor mileage? Any info, tips, or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

when I first got my turbo 01 ram it was getting 18 then after 30000 miles and now with 70000 it gets 19-20. the over all average is 19. 6. Even if I step on it 5 times a day and go 85 on highway it still gets 18. I never had less than 16 and that was in stop and go big city driving all day. Maybe after some miles it will improve. Everyone I talk to says 18-19.

I noticed a real improvement at about 7000 miles on mine. I hate to tellyou this, but I started with about 16. 5mpg and it's just gotten better from there. I'm at about 18-19 commuting to work and around town. Probably be better if I slowed down and stopped racing people around town. :) I have 11,500 miles now.
