Check this TSB list for '06's:

That website is not current.

The tsb is 18-003-06 for long crank time on m/t trucks. It also improves a/t shifting performance. The tsb does not mention anything about improving mileage, but mine improved by 2-3 mpg. Do a search here on that tsb number, and you'll find more info on what that tsb is actually for and what vehicles it applies to (mfg date of around July 05 to Nov 05).

Mileage TSB

I took my O6 3500 into the dealer to have them check the flash and they told me that it did not apply to my truck. The production date is Oct 2005. Is there any way I can check for myself if the flash will apply to my truck? Is this flash just for the 2500s? I wouldn't think so.

ECM Flash

A newby here, be gentle. I just had my 04. 5 in for service and they did the "out of park" safety recall. I have looked and I don't see any stickers indicating a reprogram, I now intend to ask them. I wouldn't mind the boost in hp and mileage if it's true :)

I had the long crank TSB done on my 06, built 12/10/05. It still cranks longer then it should some times when cold. It was too new to know if it affected the MPG.

There was a post on DTR forum that said the TSB 18-05-06 was getting them 1-3mpg better. It's not specifically a fuel mileage flash, in fact I think it is a flash to cure the CEL issues some are having.

How long is a "long crank"? Mine starts within 1 to 1. 5 seconds 99% of the time. A half dozen times it has taken maybe 3 seconds.

AND you guys that got mileage increases, what were you getting and what now?

Im sorta the same way... except its about 75% of the time its 1-1. 5 sec crank.

For everyone else, I talked to a service tech a couple weeks ago and he said that there is a new tsb coming up for auto trucks... hopefully it will fix the crank issue and milage. Im getting a whopping 13mpg

You'd know if you had the long cranking problem. The engine would take 5 - 10 seconds to start and it would feel like it was going to jump out of the truck.

I just traded my '06 3500 quad cab 4x4 6spd purchased last november (for tax purposes) on an identical '06 truck. The build date on the old truck was mid-'05 (or close, can't remember exactly) and had the long crank reflash as well as the white smoke reflash. The white smoke pretty much disappeared, but the long crank event was reduced by maybe 50%. I use the truck for work, and it's started many times a day.

The new truck has a Feb, '06 build date and has none of the symptoms of the first truck, gets about the same mileage towing, but 2-3 mpg better in every situation when running empty.
