New engine questions

Folks,

I'm grasping for straws. Since I live in #%@#* Calif. , it appears that if I'm to purchase a 2003 DC, I can only get the 235hp/460ft-lb version. You other folks can get up to 305hp/555ft-lbs. I'm at wits end trying to make something good about my situation. So far, cursing Calif. politicians, Calif. CARB regs. , and my stupidity in moving here in the first place hasn't improved my disposition on the matter. Just thought of something that might help some. Maybe the smaller hp/torque engine that I'm permitted to purchase will get better fuel mileage than the more powerfull engine. Do you know. In the past, when you've BOMBed your DC did you suffer a loss in fuel mileage?

with diesels, the way i see it, the more power you got, the less you have to press the go pedal to make it move. less throttle, less fuel injected, equal or better fuel economy.

when i go to buy my "04" i hope i don't get stuck with the cali emmissions stuff here in ontario, canada... that would blow large :(:(:(

There may be a way around the CA emissions problem. You will probably have to buy one used; however, I believe that once a vehicle has somewhere around 12K to 14K miles on it, you can then register it in CA, even though it doesn't have CA emissions. Like I said, I believe that is the case.

I've been checking on that. Yes, I can buy a used vehicle that doesn't have Calif. emissions. Only requirement is that it has at least 7,500 miles. Maybe I'll do that. I had hoped for my retirement truck (I'm already retired) to have the exact engine/transmission, color, and goodies I wanted. Oh well, it won't be the first time I've had to compromise on something.

Maybe leasing is another option. What if I leased one for a few months, at least until I could get 7,500 miles on it and then purchased it? If I lease a vehicle, is the vehicle registered to the dealer or would it have to be registered in my name? Humm.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Glenn

how about buying the truck out of state, and then taking a wicked long road trip around the country towing some big massive trailer, ya know, to brake her in:D that should rack up more than 7500 i think

or

have a family member who lives outside the cali buy it and after the time frame, import it in. .

Little old lady, who only drives to church, on sunny days:

Out of the kindness of my heart, I'll volunteer to put the first 7,500 miles on it for you. I can give you my local dealer's phone number. :D

did ya ever think of dual registration... . for 1 year... like a friends home in Nevada for the first registration and then drive until you get caught then do a dual registration..... been there done that

Oh BTW... try Dave Smith Dodge on line sales [Kellog, Idaho... not a big issue to do. . ]
