Hey guys with a truck similar to this is anyone found a good way to increase fuel mileage? I am figuring a Comp at first to see if it helps then maybe a set of smaller injectors as this is my dads truck and he tows a good bit but is after more fuel mileage when he isn't towing. Maybe a set of 275's or DDI's and a 14 cm housing to help out? Thanks for any info Dan

What kind of mileage you getting?

I just re-read your post: Looks like you have a 12V, not a 24V which means it's a 98 not a 98. 5. Which do you have?

What kind of mileage you getting?

I get averge 15 mpg and do mostly highway driving. I have approx $2,000 in performance upgrades (bigger injectors, computer, 4" exhuast, Scotty/KN) on my 3500. It gets the same mileage as before I installed the performace stuff. It might would get better if I installed a chunk of wood under the acclerator.

My problem is heavy weight (9,500 lbs), heavy foot and mileage really drops over 65 mph. But, 15 mpg ain't bad taking all the afore-mentioned into account.

BOMB it anyway, you'll love the performance.

Ok maybe I wasn't clear enough truck in need of mileage help is dad's 98. 5 24 valve 3500 4x4 auto. the 98. 4 in my sig is mine and is getting 20-22 mpg with lots of power. Dad's has 4:10's where I have 3:54's and we just want his in the 16-20 range consistently. sorry for misunderstanding

OK, my comments apply...

OK, my comments do apply. I don't know if many 24V 3500 4X4 owners get much better than 15 mpg. I once got almost 17, but I think I was in heavy traffic on the interstate running around 60 MPH.

It is a standard output motor and an EDGE EZ might bring up mileage a bit, but be careful of the transmission. Those Dodge autos don't like BOMBing too much. I installed 275s and an EZ on a friend's '99 2wd 3500 auto 3:54s and he's real happy. I think he gets almost 17 MPG. Make sure you install gauges first. My friend's lift pump died two days after the gauge/computer/injector upgrade.
