Fuel Mileage with Shell/Topper?

Been running the ARE MX for 2 years and the bed is full of camping equip including 2 honda 2000 gens, total about 1000 lbs. Absolutely no difference in mileage. The only thing that really changes fuel economy is the right foot, have been driving same truck since Jan 1997.

Both my '99 and current truck had cab high caps. This current one is a ARE and it is head and shoulders abouve my Century POS I had on my '99. Both trucks MPG's suffered slightly with the caps. . aroung 1 mpg. I added a POPLOCK tailgate electric lock and the ARE electric cap lock to my latest rig and now have key fob lockup of the complete truck.

I have a century topper. No MPH benefits but no loss either. I paid $1500, painted to match with all the goodies, ie... drop down front slider, carpet, and 12 volt light with the one button latch release for the back door. Pretty nice topper for the price.
