Fuel mileage

I just purchased a Dodge 2500 Quad cab with the HO engine. What fuel milleage should it be getting. Only has 4000 miles.

Welcome! A new tight engine may only get 13 to 16 MPG but it will get much better as the miles stack up - say 17 to 20 MPG. Your engines personality will change greatly until you hit appx 15K too. It just keeps getting better and better.

I'm running a TST Power Max fueling box on level 3/3 and got 19. 85 MPG (hand calculated) on my last tank.

It depends on if you have a 4x4, 2x4, 6 speed, automatic, rear gear ratio. From other threads, anywhere from 11 and up in the city, empty. On the highway, most get 16-18if you have a 600 and a bit higher if you have a 555 HO. Then there are the guys that cant add and subtract that are claiming to get 28-30mpg in town :-laf :-laf . I have a 4x4 w/automatic and anti spin. Its getting better as I now have about 4500 miles on it. The last tank, hand calculated was just over 15 in town. that was after the 2nd try on the TSB for mileage increase and white smoke. I have yet to see the highway mileage and most likely won't until mid January. Im in hopes of 19. Anything above 18 will make me very happy!

I assume the TSB is on the reprogramming of the ECU, can you verify.



also does anyone know the difference in milage one can expect between a 4:10 and a 3:73 rear. I know the 4:10 is better at towing and 7:73 is better on the highway, but how much difference is there between the two.



can both reach similar highway speeds (although certainly different RPMs)

is the mpg drastically different
