I talked to a rancher from Texas while we were both fueling in central Okla. He was hauling 13 round bales of hay on a 5th wheel float, said it weighed around 29000# and his rig 05 quad cab dually, 6spd G56, no mods, bone stock. said he was averaging 13. 5 mpg at 65-70 mph hand calculated.

What do you think?

I have a Dodge 95 Scotty Motor Home and the fuel

Mileage Is 14 70 17 depending on how fast you drive. At 65 and up It gets down to 14 but at slower speeds It Improves a good bit. I had the trans rebuilt with a 3 stage tourque converter and the valve body upgraded and I even got a lot more power now. The truck runs easier now so the mileage should be better. Have not had time to check It as yet. I have a 95 and a 2004 now but have a 2006 4 door short bed automatic cunnins diesel ordered and should be here In 5 weeks or so they tell me?That will be number 4 Cummins so far. Never had a problem with any of them. :-laf My 95 run as good as my 2004. The brakes are better on the 2004 I have found.

13. 5 seems a little high to me. I get 12 mpg hand calculated burning a whole tank with a little U-haul trailer behind. I've got an '03 2500 4x4 6 spd 4:10 rears. It was all highway miles (65-70mph) and the trailer was there the whole tank with no change in trailer weight. I probably grossed 12000 lbs.

Did he have the hay on there for a full tank? Hay doesn't seem like it would be something you'd haul cross country that much.

I can get between 13. 5 to 14. 5 towing my 8' X 24' enclosed car hualer when traveling right at 70 MPH, I have a 2005 DRW with the 48RE automatic and 3. 73 rear end gears.

Now if I am on the long thin go pedal the mileage will drop real quick.

I don't know what my towing mileage will be with the BullyDog Triple Dog loaded, the nimber I posted were bone stock.

Some get better mileage because they lie about it. Ford powerjoke owners do.

That may be..... but both of my powerjokes got better mileage than my cummins does by 2-3 miles per gallon!!!! and they had 37" tires and 4. 56 gears!!!! im very disapointed with the mileage on my 05 and I am only running a 305/70-17 tire!!!!!

Pulling my 28' toyhauler for a whole tank of fuel, loaded with a Honda Odyssey(about 12k GW) at 65-68 mph I got 12mpg in 20 degree weather. Needless to say I was impressed, I got 11+ pulling it empty at 72mph. I can drop my unloaded MPG down to 14 in the cold if I try to run over 75mph. I am hoping to get better in the summer. I also need to figure a way to get more gear for less money. This truck is geared the same as my 99 5speed with 4. 10 gears. I want it closer to my 99 5speed with 3. 55 gears, was able to get 22mpg from that at 68 in 100 degree weather. I just spoke with my cuisin about her 02 Crew cab 4x4 Ford PS MPG, she said 14 unloaded in the cold, better in summer and 11 pulling a 16' BP stock trailer.

My 05 DRW gets better mileage than my Ford gasser did and is not always in the shop like the Ford. The 05 CTD are not getting as good a mileage as the 03 or the 2nd gen did for reasons that I don't know.
