We have a little over 6000 miles on our 4x2 ETH/DEE dually with 4. 10's. Towing a 13,500 lb 5ver (running at 21,180 lb GCVW), we get around 11-12 mpg (we picked up about 1 mpg with the EZ). Commuting back & forth to work (rural residential streets, 30-50 MPH, stop signs & lights, 9 miles each way), I get a little over 16 mpg. I can't complain about mileage, but then again my former truck was a V-10 dually that couldn't get 16 mpg if you pushed it off a cliff with the engine turned off! :D

My truck has 29,000 miles on it, I have owned it 4,800 of those miles. It is a 2001 3500 QC 4x4 with 4. 10 gears and a 5 speed. Since I've had the truck I've averaged 15. 07 figured fuel/mileage (I don't have the computer) my best tank was 16. 77. My old 93 with an automatic got 16. 5 year round so I was a bit dissappointed but it is getting better. The best thing I can recommend is to replace the AIT sensor as per the guys here on this site. I gained almost 2 mpg when I did this. It's a pain to get to and cheap so instead of worrying about testing it I just bought one, it's only $22. I haven't towed anything yet so I can't put in my $. 02 there.

Mileage

Mine has 6800 miles on it with the 4. 10 gear- 14-14. 5 mpg on the computer display- 17-18 at highway on a straight run- not broken in and will not be for some time- no loads- I have seen lower but these refelect numbers when I buy at same truck stop- I use Power Service or Howes in every tankful- seems fine for a truck like this ask a Tahoe or Suburban driver what they get and you will feel better- I didn't buy the thing for economy- things like reflash scare me- power seems fine.

Don't worry about the reflash.........

... ... ... . unless I missed something (and I am not on here as much as I used to be, so I could have missed it) only the 98. 5-99s need the 18-11-99 reflash. At the time I did mine, there were two reflashes, one for the 98. 5s that was the infamous emissions reflash (DISASTER), and the one I referred to, 18-11-99..... which made big diff for me personally.

As a kinda humorous (but serious) side note: Some poor fellas on this site have gone in to their dealer asking for the reflash, without specifying which one to get... ... and got stuck with the emissions related one--which turned the rigs into gutless fuel hogs... ... and in the case of a good pal of mine, he took his in for minor warranty work (his is a 2000!) and they stuck in a "reflash" and didn't tell him!!! MPG went into the toilet, as did the power..... he couldn't figure it out... ... . and went to Cummins. Shop mgr came back after a few minutes with a slight grin on his face... ..... the dealer had stuck the emissions flash into his 2000! Cummins reflashed it with what was supposed to be in there... . NO CHARGE. Said "Thanks for coming to us, let us change yer fuel filter or whatever else you need sometime..... call it even". Now THAT'S customer service.

Can anyone out there that has just an Edge EZ box tell me what their mileage is?

And if it went up or down after the install?

Mike,

Configured just as you asked. Have gotten as good as 20 on long trip (two lane roads in Nebraska). Get about 17 in Omaha area. I'm up about 1 mpg locally with the EZ. I keep a log in the truck. Email at -- email address removed -- if you want more info.

mpg

on a fluke once this was hand calcultated on winter fuel. I got 26 mpg while towing 2 snowmachines through the mountains. My speeds didnt exceed 55 but 4x4 was engaged some of the trip. i have the smaller tank and drove somewhere around 520 miles between fillups. Since i started modding it the mileage has been consistently bad. but i am very aggressive. I love my diesel in the mountains its like a train.

ez box

mike... . ur mileage increase will depend on ur driving habits. . my mileage w/the ez goes up and down because the power it gives makes u wanna drive fast everywhere. . but when i do take long trips, it adds about 2 mpg

My mileage has steadily increased along with the odometer. I started out at about 16. Now I'm a little over 17. All empty and not towing. The mileage just increased as I went over 6500 miles. 7100 miles now.
