Hi all. I have a question about fuel mileage.

I bought my truck new, I've had it almost a year and have loved every minute of it. It has almost 15k miles. Around town I tend to get just a bit over 14 miles/gallon, and on the highway, loaded about 14 - 15, unloaded 19 - 20.

Does this sound normal? The truck is basically stock with the exception of a K & N and 285's. I guess I'm expecting better mileage around town. With all of the talk about failing lift pumps, I'm a bit paranoid.

Thanks for your input.

Steve

Mine for city are always in the 14's unless I have been bad. On the highway they will go up toward 19 at 72 mph.

My 2001 gets 16. 5 on the highway or around town and gets 14 mpg towing the 25' TT through the White mountains. I'd say you're doing pretty good

Thanks. It looks like my truck is running 'bout the same as others. I've seen some threads from people that claim 18 around town and so I just wanted to compare with some of you.

May the POWER be with you!:D

If you're paranoid(and rightly so), you should get gauges. Exhaust temp, boost, and fuel pressure. The first two because every turbocharged engine should, and the fuel pressure so you can monitor the health of your lift pump.

Stownsend,

Funny you should ask about MPG. I just calculated my MPG for all the tanks of fuel (37) that I have burned. I got an average of 19. 35 combined driving. My highest was 25. 14 while doing 63 mph and my lowest was 17. 43 when towing my 5th. I was stock durning all of this time.

I am no longer stock and I am just beginning new stats. I put in some STAGE 3 injectors for an added 100hp. I haven't dyno'ed yet but should be in the 324hp 640 ft lbs. At half a tank burned I am already getting better mileage.
