Fuel millage report on 06' , So far so good

Well just got back from dropping my oldest daughter off at camp Arrow Head for girls for a month. The camp is in Hunt, Texas witch is just outside of Kerville, Texas and Kerville, Texas is about 1. 5 hours north on San Antonio, Texas. Now that all thats out of the way, the real story. The trip is about 550 miles each way, mostly Interstate I-10 from Baton Rouge (were I live). My truck had about 5000 miles on it when I started the trip. I don't really have any mods as far as mods go. Geno's muffler delete pipe is it for the engine. OEM air filter, Rotella regular, stock tires, plain jane truck, ect. I used the cruse as much possible and over all keep a steady speed.

On the way up there I set the cruse at 70 mph (about 1900 rpm for a auto) and got 19. 4 mph (hand calculated. )

On the way back I tried for a little better millage, so I dropped my speed to 65 mph (about 1750 ish rpm for a auto) and got the millage up to 20. 6 (hand Calculated)

All in all with the low miles I have on my truck I am really happy with the millage so for and hope it gets better. :) Happy Motoring!!

wow

I would love to know how. My 04 common rail 3500 2 wheel drive will get 24 empty sometimes. But my 04. 5 2500 600 4x4 gets about 16 on the highway, so did my older 02, both with programmers?? Both had 3:73 and were auto's. I cant get good gas mileage I guess.

My 2006 3/4T, Quad, Long Bed 4 x 2 w/Auto now has 10,000 miles and I check almost every tank for milage. I get 14 -15. 5 around town and 15 - 18. 5 on the highway. If I just cruise along at 70 Mph the best I've done is 18. 54. My friend has a 2003 w/manual. He got 24 at 65 Mph highway. He took it in for service - they flashed it and ruined his milage. So he got an Edge E-Z chip, installed it and got right back to 24 again where he satarted.

I'd have a hard time holding 65 across Texas on I-10! I did that once, but only because I had a trailer in tow. . . I was starting to wonder if I would ever make it across the state! LOL

I guess I should feel lucky with the mileage I am getting. Just put on some BFG AT's (285/70/17) so we'll see what happens.

How the hell can you stand to drive that slow?

If the law would let me I would drive 90 every where! I do happen to know I get 9. 6 mpg at 90 and 15. 1 at 70.

I get 17. 5 in town with a 06 manual QC 4X4 and 19 at 70MPH, both hand calculated, and I'm running 35x12. 50 tires.

Do you have a lift on your truck? Any clearance problems w/ the 35's?

usually i drive 78-82 and get around 15. 5 dropped the speed to 65 and so far its looking pretty good... usually at the 1/4 mark i am barely break 215 @80 now @65 i am at the same mark and its at 300 so ill report back when i get a chance to fill up

Got 16 on I-10 from Baton Rouge to Beaumont empty. Did a 200 mile roundtrip with the 5th wheel, barely got 10, low mileage yet though. Will get better with more mileage, right? I did install an in-bed tank, 91 gal. and it cost me $268. 00 to fill it up. :) bg

no lift, and the 35's only rub under harsh articulation. Normal day to day driving is just fine. I had a leveling kit on my old truck and the dealership wouldn't swap it out so I just took the tires and thought "I'll buy another levening kit" but I found I don't need it.

:( Empty I get 19. 4 Put in $276. 00 on Friday evening Went to Oklahoma and back over the weekend pulling the goose-neck and a half ton gasser on it. Now it needs fuel again :(
