My truck is a 95 with 211,000 miles. The pipe from the fuel cap to the tank hoses are rusted to the point the vent pipe has a hole leaking fuel on fueling. My local dealer will not replace the pipe and doge customer service was no help. Anyone else spilling fuel on fill up???

Thanks

Wow - what kind of diesel fuel additive have you been running?????

Sorry to hear your problems but I would look in a junk yard for a wrecked truck with salvagable parts.

I guess road salt being thrown up by the rear tire has caused all this excess body lightening.

I've got a 96 but here in Texas, no road salt and it looks like brand new.

You mean to say Dodge won't sell just the part? I know it's one piece, the fill, vent and part where the cap screws on.

The Mag- Chloride they use in Montana is worse than the calcium, many communities here have banned it and now the state is cutting back but only because it was ruining their trucks.

fuel pipe

This problem happened to me 10 years ago with a Honda Accord. Honda happily replaced the rotten fuel pipe twice in the vehicle's 250,000-mile journey. Safety was at stake. I hoped Dodge would do the same.

The dealer will sell me the pipe, which is what I will do this week. I called Dodge Corporate and was told that the company will not replace the fueling pipes -- too many miles, too old ('95/ 211,000 miles).

I guess I'm not the first TDR member to be dissapointed with Dodge for not owning up to a safety-related problem.

I hope owners of gas models replace their pipes as fast as I am willing to replace mine.

Sorry to sit the soap box.

Besides being anti-customer oriented the reason they won't replace it for free is because on a diesel the fill pipe isn't part of the emissions control system like it is on a gasser which emits tank fumes.

If I'm not mistaken the emission control system warranty is still good on your high mile '95. Too bad/good it doesn't have an emissions system.

No emission warranty wouldn't cover it on a gasser with that many miles either. I can't remeber the diffrent emissions warranties but none of them are over 100,000 miles.

kk, you're right, I was wrong. Warranty manual says 5 years or 100k on the emissions system, except in Calif where I didn't bother reading the fine print.

I remember taking my high mile at least seven years from new '82 Toyota PU into a dealer for work. When I returned they said they replaced the cracked exhaust manifold under emissions warranty, I didn't even ask for it.

If only Dodge would be so kind and give us all ATS manifolds. :)
