Yes, I'm ordering the factory service manual.

Sorry if I keep asking dumb question, but either I'm searching for the wrong terms, or there are so many posts which just don't answer my specific question.

Like this one. LOTS of talk about sliding the fuel plate forward (or replacing the plate, etc. )

Where do I find this plate? How do I know if it's been slid forward (used truck) or how do I slide it forward? The truck makes a little black smoke cloud when pulling from a stop, so I've been told it's probably already slid forward.

Also, seems like an intake upgrade is a simple idea. I've used K&Ns in the past. Are they still the king? Is the FIPK kit the one to get, or one of the other brands that replace the box with an open element? Or is just a K&N in the factory box pretty much as good?

Thanks again.

ontop of your fuel pump, youll see your AFC housing, that is held down with 4 screws, take off those screws, one of those screws might be a break off screw, if that is still in place, it's unlikely that anybody has tampered with your pump. once you get that screw out, then move the fuel shutdown solenoid bracket out of the way, and you can pull that housing out, you will then see your fuel plate which is held down by 2 screws, becareful is you take off those screws, you can possibly drop them in the pump, and would take significant steps to retreive those screws, you can then tell if any fuel mods have been done. as far as a air intake setup, dont go with k&N, they do not filter the air properly, i would reccomend the AFE progaurd 7 stage I setup, uses stok hose, and flows more air, yet still retains good filtration. if you want a bigger steup, look at the stage II setup.
