Gary,

It's not really a filter... I'd call it a pre-strainer and I use it on the input feed to my AirDog. Eric at Vulcan has them. The strainer aspect is because the element is a disk with slots cut in it. It's fine for stopping chunks-o-crud from entering your expensive gear-driven transfer pumps. It is an excellent modification once you do the Vulcan Draw Straw Bomb because you loose the strainer-mesh of the fuel canister during the surgery of the Draw Straw.

Is it a filter? Heck no...

Vulcan recommends this addition specifically as a post surgery addition. The unit comes in two sizes and both are relatively inexpensive.

WTBurke, thanks for the reply, I currently have the 1/2" version mounted between the draw straw and my FASS and need to find one for a friend, I got the last one from Vulcan, but he hasn't had the larger 1/2" version for a while and I'm looking for another source. The one in the picture is the 3/8". I just can't follow the logic of a1/2" draw straw, 1/2 lines, and a 3/8" pre-filter, maybe if you're adding to stock system, but an upgraded big line kit.

Well I'm sorry to hear Eric doesn't have them anymore? They are excellent for the application we are using them for. I'll look around at a few other suppliers.

Did Eric say he's not able to source them any longer?

William

mhenon, without sounding to sarcastic, but I can't justify installing that little 3/8" filter in a 1/2" big line. why bother with the big line to just to choke it down at the beginning. that filter would only be adequate for stock size fuel lines.

WTBurke, a friend of mine has asked Eric to get a couple but he hasn't seemed to put much effort into it. I got the last one sitting on his shelf and he hasn't brought any more in.

Gary,

Thank you, I too need to speak with Eric about another topic and I'll remind him that we do need that option due to it's design.
