So I bought my truck in feb and been driving it since . I finally got my fuel pressure guage on last week . Well it reads 7psi at idel , and if I floor it I drop to 0 (probably below) no problem . I have been driving real easy with her till I installed the guage , not knowing and all .

I thought maybe a plugged filter was the reason , so I changed it today , no change . I have an Issopro guage with a pretty big fuel line right of the schrader valve directly to the guage in an A pillar .

Any chance I have air in the line or a bad reading somehow? What do I do now , just take it to a dealership? I've never owned a vechicle this new , lol .

And what if they try telling me its a good pressure ? (like my old man who insists its ok because he was a diesel mechanic for 30 yrs (10yrs ago)) . I thought I've read posts in my search that people were told its ok .

Espically since I called the dodge dealer right when I bought the truck and asked them about the vp-44 and warranty , AND if I could get the lift pump checked out right away , and they guy told me "O if anything was wrong it would raise a check engine light" . I asked if anyone there knew anythong about diesel cummins and he says "O yea I have a few mechanics real familiar with those engines" . I say BS , diesels are far and few between around here , and I just din't buy anything he said . I could tell he was trying to say alot with knowing very little . I don't want some flop touching my truck .

Whats my next step guys?

sounds like your lift pump is pooping out on you. Take it to the dealership and ask to have them run their flow test on it, if they claim it is fine, you may have to replace the lift pump yourself, $70 to $200 depending on the deal you get on a pump. You may want to research on here some more about lift pumps and fuel line upgrades. If you have to do yours yourself, I highly recommend upgrading to the Vulcan Big Line kit, it relocates the lift pump back by the tank which is more efficient, and increases the fuel line size to 1/2" and replaces the stock banjo bolts in and out of the fuel filter and vp44. Even if the dealership replaces your lift pump, I would recommend the fuel line upgrade, it will make the new pump last a lot longer.

You need a new LP -13. 5 psi min is what i've been told some folks have scored them for $70 at Cummins Dealer do a search on the $70 pump. I paid 160 for my spare a while back.
