I finally got around to installing my gauges about a month ago including a Westach elec. fp gauge from Geno's with their hose hooked up to the Schrader valve. Everything has worked fine. My readings were about 13psi idle, 10 at cruising speed, down to 6-7 at wot.
About 10 days ago I cranks up the truck and notice I got only 4-5 in town and if I step on it it drops to 1 or so. Next day I check everything out and only thing I can find is hose fitting at Scrader is slightly wet. I snugged up the fitting somewhat and changed the connections on the sending unit and after a couple of restarts the thing seems to work fine.
Well yesterday I heads up north and I looked over and I'm getting about 1psi at cruise(steady reading). I'm starting to have second thoughts about everything and when I come to an exit for new Dodge dealership I pull off thinking I'll see if they can hook up a fuel pres. gauge to rule out lift pump and put my mind at ease. I shut truck down, restart and gauge is working fine. Same readings as before when appearing to work correctly.
I'm thinking the sending unit is bad. Any suggestions or ideas on how I can test it? Thanks. Bill
