Did a search, bout' fell asleep looking! Does any one have or know where I can get good pics of an install on a late modle 24valver. 2002 Also would there be anything wrong with using a boost gauge as a fuel pressure gauge? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definity use a fuel pressure gauge c/w electric sending unit. You would want to avoid using mechanical gauges(boost) - It will bring a fuel source through the fire wall(un-safe). hook the electrical sending unit to the bicycle tire looking fitting on your fuel line - no tapping this way. If you purchase a mechanical gauge as well it comes with a hose that will screw on the bicycle looking fitting, it also had 1/4" npt on the other end this is where the sending unit goes. auto meter gauge has a good selection of gauges.

Yes, you could use a boost gauge, but need a mechanical isolator. We have found these to be more reliable than the electrical gauges.

I've had both types of gauges. Started out with a Westach electrical gauge. I always wondered about how accurate it was and the scale(0-16psi) wasn't enough for my setup since I am running a pusher pump.

I recently switched to a Hewitt 0-30psi mechanical gauge. It matches the stock gauges exactly. I chose to omit the isolator and pipe fuel into the cab using braided stainless line and flare fittings. It turned out to be a nice clean install and it is nice to have enough range on the gauge to see what the fuel pressure is actually doing instead of always having the gauge pegged at 16 psi.

Here's my hookup to the shrader valve right at the VP44 - uses standard A/C fitting, NO mods to shrader valve - can be connected/disconnected in seconds by hand...

Here's my sending unit mount simple U-bolt attachment at the brake booster fittings...

This all runs to Westach pillar mount guages - EGT/boost, and fuel pressure 0-30 psi...

I've been usin an Autometer Z series(0/35) boost gauge hooked up to a SS braded line with Aeroquip fittings for over a year. No isolator either. no problem whatsoever. Unsafe? It's diesel!

If you use a mechanical set up don't hook it up directly to the VP44 as you might get a rattling noise in the cab. I used a tapped banjo after the fuel filter works great!
