Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel pressure gauge install questions

I am installing a fuel gauge (mechanical w/ isolator) in a 2000 4x4 today. The truck has some bombs, including the FASS pump. Where is the best spot to tap into the fuel lines, and what spot will afford the best information. Is there a spot pre-pump and post pump? Which one is better? Thanks, Ryan

I think the fass pump has a 1/8" port to install your guage in. You want to know the post pump pressure not the pre pump pressure. If the fass doesnt have a place to tap into pressure you can get a banjo from geno's that will replace the schrader type at the VP or get an adapter hose that will screw onto the schrader. Jake

Thanks Jake- I am wondering if I should be more concerned with pre-vp44 readings, or post vp-44 readings/ Or is it even possible to monitor post vp-44? Ryan

Post VP just dumps back into the tank. All you need to worry about is that there is a good clean supply of fuel at the inlet to the VP.

I have the FASS and it came with a barbed T fitting for a fuel gauge connection. I installed mine in the middle location from the VP pump to where the old fuel filter was. Works great, no pulsation on the gauge and I see 15 PSI steady.

Thanks for the help. We cut the fuel line just in front of the vp-44 and it seemed to work well. We also saw 15 psi on the gauge, with a drop down to 11-13 psi under WOT. The gauge only stayed at 11-13 for a quick second, then climbed right back up to 15. Looks like the FASS pump is doing it's job. Thanks again- Ryan
