Hey,

After three long weeks, my matching Stewart Warner Maximum Performance fuel pressure gauge came in. It's a 15PSI gauge with an electronic sending unit. I'm about to order the Banjo bolt from Geno's, but I have a question before I place my order today (hopefully today!!).

The instructions say that race engines have a lot of vibration that could damage the sending unit. I'm assuming the Cummins falls in this same category. The instructions also say to use a stainless braided hose for remote mounting since that is how the sending unit is grounded.

I've searched here and DTR for information on remotely mounting sending units and haven't been able to find any info at all. I'm looking for info as far as the best SS hose to use and where to remotely mount the sending unit.

Any quick info will be VERY helpful!!!! Thank you! :)

Hope this isn't too late to help

Remote mounting is a piece of cake. I did it with my oil pressure gauge. Here are the part numbers you can use from Summit:

3 ft braided stainless hose: AER-FCA0403 (1 required)

Reusable hose ends: AER-FCM1011 (these are -4 AN) (2 required)

AN-to-NPT adaptor: AER-FCM2001 (2 required)

These are, in my opinion, components of the highest quality. You might find cheaper parts elsewhere, it's up to you.

Now, those parts will leave you with a 1/8 NPT MALE connection at both ends of the hose. At your fuel pressure sending unit you need a 1/8 NPT FEMALE. If it were me, I'd use a Swagelok (www.swagelok.com) part number SS-2-HCG (stainless hex coupling, 1/8 NPT). Again, in my opinion Swagelok makes the finest quality pipe fittings money can buy, but you may find similar parts from other manufacturers for cheaper.

It will take time to get all these parts via mail order, but anything worth doing is worth taking your time and doing right... right? ;)

[I have absolutely no affiliation with either Summit, Aeroquip, or Swagelok... I simply have experience with them]

Good information! I actually called Summit an hour before posting this, but they had so many parts available for this that I wasn't sure what to order. Looks like I can give them a call back now!

Thanks!
