I know I'm supposed to use braided stainless line for my mechanical fuel pressure gauge, but I'm wondering if plain old rubber fuel line is acceptable. It would be run through a new grommet in it's own hole in the firewall to prevent chafing. If the consensus is that I'd be wise to use stainless, then that's what I'll do.

It is best to insall some sort of an isolator under the hood( rated for diesel fuel ) to prevent a diesel spill in the cab if the gauge fails

Can't deny that it's best to NOT to bring fuel in the cab, but many TDR members do it w/ no reported problems.

I know of one guy w/ 90K & 5 years on one of the nylon lines (nylon certainly handles vibration well) w/ no problems.

I went w/ a extremely stout Kevlar BSS line that I believe should be able to handle about anything. Check out link to my source in my sig.

I just use nylon tubing, the same type as is used for a boost gauge then push it though a 1/4" piece of tubing to protect against chaffing and sharp edges. Only about a year but no problems.
