Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Fuel Pressure Gauge

Hey guys,

I am getting ready to buy Gauges for my conversion project. Does anyone have ideas on a mechanical or electrical fuel pressure gauge? Is one better than the other? I would prefer electrical so I would not have to deal with the isolator. Are you coming off the filter housing for the sending unit?

Pics would be good if anyone has then.



Did a seach and could not find what I needed, I can never get it to pull up what I need :{

Here is a picture of where I get my fuel pressure. That is the banjo fitting on the side of the P7100 pump. It's out of the way there. The needle valve is necessary because of pressure spikes from the lift pump. You want it open just enough so the gauge barely works. I use a grease gun hose from the needle valve to the pressure sensor. That allows me to put the sensor anywhere I want and to isolate it from engine vibration.

That needle valve is a good idea.



I used a liquid filled, bounce free gauge here. It has a very small pinhole in the gauge to limit flow. I still think the needle valve idea is better. I turned a small collar and tapped it for the gauge. Found a longer banjo bolt and mounted it on the top of the fuel filter. I later run a plastic line and moved the gauge into the cab.

No picture but I bought an electric gauge and sender from Westach. I have the Prime Loc fuel filter relocator so I screwed the sender into the port on the output side of it and put the gauge in a single pod on the pillar.

i had the same idea as joe g. problem is i don't have a needle valve to help the pressure spikes, and am having a hard time finding one. also, when I put down some hard throttle, the pressure drops to 0. i'm wondering if the position of the sensor at the banjo bolt has anything to do with it.

There should be no trouble finding a needle valve. I got mine from the hardware store. It is also available at the local NAPA store.



I never see fuel pressure below 20 PSI. I have an alarm on my fuel and lube oil that will light up if either is below 10 PSI. I've never seen it on with the engine running after a couple of seconds at start.
