I'm going to order a Westach fuel pressure gauge for my 02 from Geno's. My question is: I know I need a tapped banjo bolt to replace the schrader valve on the vp44. Do I need anything other than the banjo bolt and 2 gaskets besides the the hose to mount the sender? Thanks

Sixpack-

First of all, the banjo bolt I got from Geno's would not accept the adaptor or grease gun hose more than 1-2 turns, I had to re-tap it for 1/8" NPT. I don't know why this is, but I'm not the only one who has had this problem.

Permatex #2 for sealing.

The leads you get from Westach are a joke, they are not long enough. Plan on buying some stranded wire (I used 18 AWG) for splicing additional wire to the factory jumpers, including the light bulb! Definitely buy green, black and red, I also bought white.

Heat shrink tubing to cover the soldered joints above.

Depending on how you mount your sender in the engine compartment you might (should) need a bracket to mount the sender.

Solderless terminals if you want to go that route (I did) for the grounds I had to drill both in the engine compartment and in the cab.

Also, Geno's will give you an angled 1/8" adapter to get your grease gun hose (gonna need one of them too) turned in the right direction, but you'll need a male to female adaptor (sleeve, female both sides) to connect the male of the g/g hose to the male of the sender.

If you go the grease gun hose route I'd suggest 18" and look for the hose that has the brass ends (not the silver) as the brass are tapered (which you want) and the silver are not.

Good luck... ... . zman :p

You can go to most any auto parts store and get an auto A/C servicing kit hose, which will have a proper schrader valve connector on one end, and quite possibly the right one for the sender on the other, like mine did...

as can be seen, it simply threads right on to the valve at the pump - no mods or adapters needed!

Mine works great - no leaks, no meter "jumps" or "jerks" so far...

Thanks - a picture IS worth a thousand words... ;)

I modified an existing bracket I already had, and used a stainless U-bolt right to the hose flange you see in the photo - looks nearly stock, since the bracket was cadmium plated the same as the hose coupling it mounts to... :D

When I hooked up to the shrader valve my electric gauge 2661 Autometer bounced the needle all over the place. I since removed it and now its Prefilter and works great. No bounce. I used a 24" extension hose on both installs. Its wierd how some can hook up to the injection pump and others do there gauge goes bananas.

Also, according to the directions from Geno's the sender should be mounted in the vertical plane, with the hose/fuel input on the bottom side and the contacts on the top side. Don't believe it makes a difference operationally but maybe for sender longevity?

Wish I was more "puter" savvy...

about 9 months ago a picture was posted of the electrical FP sender mounted on the left side of the radiator shroud (mounted vertical-in the angled part-far left side). It was a very good looking mount and use of space. I believe a hole saw and slight amount of silicone were all that were required for installation.
