I was thinking of getting a fuel pressure gauge but I had a few questions. First I wouldn't have the first clue on how to install the darn thing. So where would I go to get it installed? About how much does this cost (Installed, gauge, and mount)? All I am looking for is a ball park number because I know there are different gauges and mounts. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric, FP gauge install is an easy 1 hour project. Do a search on it, lots of info since most have done it. Heck, get a triple gauge mount and do FP, Boost and EGT in one day. It's good info to have and you can handle the install and learn a bit about your truck in the process. If you have a local chapter of TDR, go to a meet to see others' gauges, get ideas and get input. You'll enjoy the experience :D Jim G.

elam,

What part of the state is Seymour? I'm near Nashville. I would be glad to show you how sometime, or at least how I did it...

The gauges and mounts can be found on-line at Geno's garage. They also have much better prices on filters than the dealer, and you of course need to use approved filters.

I just last week had my lift pump replaced. I put the gauges on last summer. I noticed on a trip through KY two weeks ago that my fuel pressure had gone from 11 psi normal cruise to a negative (vacuum). These trucks will run without the LP for a while. I wonder how long... possible until it loses prime. Scary. My dealer was great and was able to see the problem as I described it. They of course confirmed that my gauge was accurate before replacement, but now I know that my gauge is on the money. It was a great investment. I've no doubt that it saved me from being disabled, maybe even having to replace the injector pump. Funny thing, the new pump only runs about 9-10psi at cruise, sometimes down to 5 under load, but I guess as long as it's positive I'm OK. I hope to put on a pusher pump soon.

And they really look good, but folks will want to challenge you if they see them, so you better plan on BOMBing...
