Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Fuel pressure guage info needed

I have been looking for a fuel pressure guage for my 12v. I can only find ones up to 30#. But dont the 12v lp make 40-45#'s?

I'm no expert on this, but I believe that they can spike higher than 30 psi at times. I just ordered a gauge through Branom Instrument in Portland from a company named Wika. The gauge is a liquid filled, back attachment and 1 1/2" diameter. I believe it goes to 50 psi. It was highly recommended by our instrumentation department here at work. The cost is just over $20. 00. There are lots of other quality gauges out there, and I'm fairly certain that others may chime in and offer other ideas.

You need at least a 40 psi gauge. I used to be able to get them easily but no more. You're stuck with either a 60 lb gauge, which isn't bad or a 40 psi turbo boost gauge.

Hmm... Maybe I should call PDR, because I just ordered a 0-30 PSI FP Gauge... . You recommend a 40, Bill?? I know that you are very familiar with all this, and would like your opinion.

Chris, most 12 valves run at about 24-28 psi cruising but going down hill without thottle or in cold weather can go up over 30. I've encountered some rigs that run barely over 30 all the time.



This goes for all gauges-- best that your most frequent readings are in the middle of the scale. You never want to peg a gauge.



I'd send it back, Piers may have thought you have a 24 valve, 30 psi is great for their normal pressures of around 15 psi.

Does any one make a 40# or so that I can buy. I have been looking for a fuel pressure, boost, and piro. But have been unable to find a matching set. And harder yet I want the smaller one for a piller pod.

Autometer makes a set Pyro,Boost,and fuel pressure... Thats what I have go to there web site www.autometer.com.....

Autometer only has two choices for FP 0-15 and 0-100. It would be nice to see a 0-60 gauge, ISSPRO makes one for Boost but not FP.

The 100 is what I have and its easy enough to read... ... . 2lb increments

I have a very nice 40 PSI gauge from Westach part number 2C8-72KV with sender 387-50KV. Kind of expensive, but I like it. Check with Pete Cornelius at -- email address removed -- the tech support guy.

Would it be possible to use a Turbo boost gauge with isolator for FP measurement?

I was curious about this... has anyone tried it? is it even possible? What about oil pressure?? Let's get some replies going here!!! Thanks,

I have autometer in my 2001. But cant find a match any where for my 97. I need a fp to 40 a boost to 60 and a piro. Any ideas?

Try letting your fingers do the walking. There are plenty of gauges out there that where not made strictly for the auto industry, but for industrial use. As a result in most cases, a higher quality instrument. I suggest looking in your phone book yellow pages and see if there is a company in your area that perhaps carries such equipment. This idea is probably a waste of time if you live in an area that does'nt have much in the way of industrial businesses, or if you want to match up with gauges you have already. I plan to use mine only for trouble shooting and monitoring, not on a day to day bases, so I'm only concerned about functionality and not an accessory for the cab. Illflem has stated in other posts in the past about using water gauges and has had good luck with them. Lots of ways to go. It's just a matter of deciding what is important to you.

you will only get a fp to 100lb in autometer and they have all the guages you need they match up..... go to www.autometer.com they have a few different designs of pyro's and fp,boost... .

Lots of folks have used both oil and boost gauges for FP, no isolator needed. Problem is they won't say fuel pressure on them.

Lots of good looking industrial gauges are available, problem is they have no lighting. I personally don't consider this a problem as fuel pressure isn't as critical on a 12 valve as it is on a 24, you don't need to look at it much. I use industrial gauges exclusively and mount then way low for this reason. About the most you'll pay for a industrial gauge is $15.
