Fuel Pressure Guage

Does anyone have any pictures of a fuel pressure guage install? I want to check the fuel pressure on my 97 to make sure that I have the pressure that it should have. Piers give me instructions on installing an adapter on the filter head and installing a pressure guage. .

I would like to see how it was installed... .

I have a 2001, so my install point is a little different then yours would be, but yours is very easy, especially if you have the older fuel filter. Their are two test points on the fuel filter housing at the top (one for pre-filter, and one for post filter). The post filter is the one closest to the center (someone with this setup should confirm I have the right one). You can use that test port to connect your gauge to (it should be 1/8"NPT). Most recommend that you mount the sender remotely (not directly to the filter) to eliminate vibration.



The Westach fuel gauge (Geno's is a good source) is very easy to install. Their instructions are good, except when they don't put the correct ones in for the new sender they have. If it talks about putting a clamp around the sender and using it for a ground, you got the older instructions. The new sender has two post (one for gound, and one to the gauge) and it doesn't make any difference which one goes to which post. You don't have to put a clamp around the new one for ground. That info was for the 24v trucks, the 12v has higher lift pump pressures on the order of 20 psi at idle and up to 30-35 psi under load. You can find some information on the TST site on the 12v here - http://www.tstproducts.com/service_tools.html .

Steve... Info is still relavent, and it seems all you would have to do is change the sender and guage to a higher output setup... The connect ports are different between yours and a newer 99-2002, but I think there is enough info on how to connect to either, on the TDR. .
